Mont Blanc Cable Car with kids

Hello
We are planning on taking the Mont Blanc cable car from Chamonix to Italy next summer. I have been reading a lot about it and it sounds amazing. For those of you that have actually taken the ride the entire way is this something that most children could tolerate well and is it safe for children? I keep reading that the cable car over the Mer de Glace is something like a 4 passenger open car and am wondeing if it is even safe for kids. My kids will be 12,11 and 10.

And if in fact it is only a 4 passenger car we would have to split up as there will be 6 of us and this worries if it is at all unsafe for children.

Thanks for any advice from those who have taken the ride.

We've taken the whole trip but not with kids.
The cars over the glaciers do hold 4 but I don't know if they would allow another child. I would think it would depend on the size of your kids. The cars are not really open but you can open side windows if you wish. I didn't feel in anyway that they were unsafe.
The ride up to get to the cable car is very crowded. They seem to push as many people as possible in so you'll have to be prepared for that. Your kids are old enough that it shouldn't be a problem.
I would definitely take the trip. Your kids will love it and have great memories. The Ice Palace at the top will be of interest to them also.

Of course, you can take children on the cable car. One parent takes two children in one car and the other parent the third child in another car.

However, be prepared that the Mont Blanc is in clouds very often.

In any case, dress properly!!!

A cable car that's unsafe for children of that age would not be allowed to operate, at least not in these parts of the world.

Follow traveller's advice and dress properly. This means: take a windproof jacket and a warm fleece/sweater to wear underneath and good walking shoes for each family member, no matter how hot it may be down in the valley. And no shorts, please.
Rule of thumb: 100 m up in altitude mean 1°C less in temperature.
