Molise, Italy - any thoughts for an interesting inland village?

Going round and round while doing research - no where has grabbed me yet. We'll have a car driving north from Bari for a few days before returning the car in Rimini. Looking for a village or city that is historical with good restaurants and better than average lodging either a B&B or farm. Going in mid-October.

Are you going hiking? If not and if you're driving up the coast basically the only choice is the city of Termoli. I'm not sure how much that qualifies for historical.

Most of the inland towns are tiny. Bojano which is very inland has little more than 8K in population. I think it's the fifth largest in the region. Plenty of towns of 1k or even less.
