moderate london restaurants

I would really appreciate a list of moderate price restaurants ($25 - $30 pp) for dinner in London. We will be staying part of the time in Kensington and part of the time in Mayfair.

Is anyone familiar with toptable.com that offers discounts at various restaurants?

Thanks for the help.

$25 is about 16 quid and in those areas that's not enough for restaurants. You'll be better off looking at pubs.

Where in Kensington are you staying (it has amazingly elastic boundaries in the hands of travel agents)?

Try Carluccio's across from South Ken tube, Orsini's across from the V and A, Anglesea Arms pub on Onslow Gardens, Biagio , across from the Royal Academy, the Hereford pub on Gloucester Rd, maybe even Oriel next to Sloane Sq tube. Sorry I don't hang out in Mayfair

I forgot you asked about the toptable offers. We've done several and found them good value. Also try

Another moderate place is Chez Gerard on Kensington High St. across from Kensington Palace Gate

We recently dined at "Volt" 17 Hobart Place, London, SW1W 0HH

If you register on toptable you can reserve their special offer at 50% off Gourmet Menu. Very tasty and for 22 GPB per person -- great value for central London location.

toptable is a great website and the deals are excellent. You can get money off at a number of chains, but better still, value set menu meals or up to 50% off deals at more 'unique' places too.

The ASK pizza chain (one restaurant in the shopping area at the Gloucester Road tube stop) has much more than pizza and is pretty economical.
