Guess as the OP I should update with what I did. I ended up buying another unlocked phone off eBay, and ordered SIMs from Lebara. I had the SIMs shipped to the owner of the property we're staying at, so they should be there when we arrive.

So, say I have two Lebara SIMs left over from our trip, with a pound or two of value left on each of them, and they are worthless to me here. Can I give them away to someone on this forum? (Preferably someone with an upcoming trip to the UK.) Is that done here?
