Missypie you are too funny! Thanks for the info about the crypts etc. That is a great relief as we still haven't heard from the Scavi office. I agree on the Gondola...I will play it by ear but I imagine the crowds will not diminish as the summer continues. Good point about being prepared to answer questions about our beliefs!
Regarding David...when we visited New York and the boys were 11 they had to take photos next to the bull on Wall Street...they weren't standing near the head of the bull! LOL! It's a guy thing and I have all boys and (now) a warped sense of humor. Thanks for your details...it sounds like you all had a fabulous time. Mary

Hi,
I think I too was in Rome the same week as you! We didn't get tickets for the seats in St Peters Square for the Papal Audience but were standing not too far from a group of Japanese tourists/pilgrims who stood up waving their fans. We also went to Villa Borghese on the Thursday when it was raining but simply walked to the Spanish Steps. Have still to get round to posting a trip report but will as I enjoy reading so many here.

Hey Missy, i have ready your report and quite enjoyed it. I am planning a trip this summer for my family and not sure if we can pull this off independently or go with a tour group. I would appreciate any pointers and help you can provide. We travel ( take road trips every year ) so we have no qualms about tight schedules and waking up early. Just like to have alot of our own free time and discovering at our pace. Family of 5 ( mum, dad, 2 kids 4, 12 and baby of 3.5.
