Missing Thread

I see that BillynBettyJones's "Shingelin Visa" thread has been deleted since I last visited about 18 hours ago. Did it actually become offensive, or did Fodors just decide that having a laugh now constitutes a breach of their rules?

So, if I've got this right, a 14 year old girl swapping her baby for a Westlife CD is funny, but deliberately confusing a Schengen Visa with a credit card isn't?

-threads started for the sake of humour are never humourous.

-references to molvenia are never funny.

-"yeah but, no but, yeah but" and "i want that one" get funnier every time i hear them.

It would seem that different people have different opinions on what is and isn't funny.

It would also seem that some people believe that their opinion is the only one that matters.

It would also seem that some people believe that their opinion is the only one that matters

I agree and it's a shame. If they'd have bothered to have read the manual at all, they'd know that the only opinion that matters is mine.

Fodors' monitors are pretty trigger happy.

I personally don't find the BillynBetty threads funny at all...but I ignore them and go on.

I did enjoy the Oprah vs Hermes thread and that one was pulled.

On the other hand, a poster screamed and called me a few names and the thread was left alone until I emailed fodors and complained. ???

Thankfully, they removed only the comments and left the OP's thread along with the helpful suggestions alone.

We're always looking for undiscovered travel destinations.

Is Molvenia anywhere near Molvania? Is it a Slovenia/Slovakia kind of thing?

Sad but true Patrick. My reason for stating the blindingly obvious was that on a forum that's supposed to be about learning about differences and sharing and discussing opinions, I was surprised to read blanket statements that were basically the equivalent of

Rome is never worth the effort

Paris never lives up to expectations

Clapham Junction looks more beautiful every time I see it

You can substitute whatever place names you want instead of the ones I've used, but you get the idea?

memejw - the current policies do seem rather inconsistent, with some threads that tend to wander away from travel (but are otherwise innoffensive) being pulled, whilst other similar ones are left on the board and with people having to actually complain about personal attacks and offensive language before anything's done about it.

Rufus - you've been told that references to Molvenia are never funny! Now you've broken the rules and this thread will probably get pulled as well!

Molvenia/Molvakia is a Slovenia/Slovakia kind of thing. Molvenia/Molvania is more of a(n) Albenia/Albania kind of thing.

Best wishes,

Rex
