milk in Cappuccino

We're leaving next week and I thought we had everything under control until my "geeky", over-cautious husband came up with this problem today. Is it safe to drink the milk in Cappuccino? I say yes. he says no. Who's the winner here?
Thanks

No need to worry -- everybody in Italy died of food poisoning because of the boiled sterile milk when cappucino was invented, so it is no longer available.

Are Europeans dropping like flies all of a sudden?

LOL Peggy, tell your husband to think about it. If the milk in Italy was not safe there would sure be a lot of dead cappuccion drinkers.

Just don't drink the water, demand that there be no ice cubes, avoid salad or anything raw, and don't eat any item that is not vacuum sealed and imported from a clean country.

And precisely why would it be unsafe?

OOh Karouac, you're on a roll.

I'd like you, Flanner, Dukey, Robespierre and Ira to do a "discussion"...

As I said on another forum, they should NOT drink the milk!!!!

Since they've started serving lattes and cappucinos, the entire population of Italy, including tourists, has dropped to 250 live souls. However, nobody has to stand in line, you can spend all the time you wish in the Sistine Chapel, and getting hotel reservations has never been easier.

All the planes returning to the US and other countries are draped in black.

For the want of some sterile milk, a country was lost.

WHERE do people get this stuff???

I suggest he goes to Las Vegas and rides a gondola there. EVERYTHING is safe in Vegas, nothing ever happens there.

And the milk will not be from genetically modified cows... so may be safer (though i'm not buying into that theory until i see more proof)

funny thing - i been up and down Italy several times and rarely have seen any cows - do Italian cows mainly reside in factory type farm sheds - is it because of the obvious lack of pastures except in the north?

Or is the milk imported?

And i've never seen a water buffalo from which a famous Italian cheese is made from.

It's Bavarian milk , made into great italian cheese and then shipped back to north of the alps. Some of the milk they actually drink.

Thanks for the laughs. I loved it! Not sure why after 45 years of marriage he doesn't realize that I'm always right!

Just be very careful and do NOT order a cappuccino after about 10am or so - you might get slapped or at least looked at funny!

and for God's sake don't do what I saw some obviously Starbucks-deprived couple do in Artimino: waltz in and order "lattes". The barista corrected them and after making two perfect cafe lattes corrected them again that no, they couldn't have them in "to-go" cups...

I'm at a complete loss as to why there are so many threads asking things like whether people in Europe wear jeans, drink tap water, have toilets in cafes etc etc. It's Europe - not Bangladash!

Out of interest, is the US/Canada board full of emails from Europeans asking if they can drink the water in Florida, or eat salad in Ontario? I'm dying to know! 8-)

Hi P,

>Is it safe to drink the milk in Cappuccino?

"This is a classic cappuccino. Top 1-1/2 oz. espresso with 1-1/2 oz. to 2 oz foam".

Just spoon off the foam.

Despite what others might tell you, milk in Europe is unpasteurized and has probably been spit in.

Don't drink the milk.

Don't eat the cheese.

Don't drink the water.

Don't drink any beverage that doesn't come in a sealed bottle and which you haven't watched the server open.

Don't eat any seafood, fish included - it has been treated with chemicals to mask the fact that it has spoiled.

Don't eat any sausages - you don't want to know what's in them.

Spaghetti is made from leftover factory sweepings that have been bleached with chlorine.

Come to think of it, DH ought to stay home.

Hey if these two happless people die of "the runs" aka Montezuma's Revenge, we'll all be regretting poo-pooing poor hubby's concerns.

For heavens sakes Ira, I thought the spaghetti was picked off of spaghetti trees. You are saying that isn't true? Who knew?
