Is anyone going to opening night or have plans for any subsequent night?

Thanks for the info. Will. No current plans to visit Milan but this is an added attraction.
I just booked last week for a performance at La Fenice next June. First I tried a British based booking company who quoted £65 each for cheapest seats, then booked through www.charta.it for E22 each - a bit of a difference !!

pg, in response to your question I went on to google.com.
There does appear to be guided tours all year long. Did not get the info on how you book one etc. but you can research this. I would be a fantastic tour I am sure.

LoveItaly,
I googled too - but there is absolutely no info on it. The only thing that I have found thus far is that there is a show on the day we are there - an expensive but possible way to see La Scala.
Let me know if you hear anything else.
Thanks

Hi pg, I went back onto to Google and spent some time with the various websites.
It looks like if one takes a "tour" vacation that one can get a tour of LaScala Opera House if the tour includes this of course. I did not find any website that gave info for individuals to buy a ticket for a tour.
However here is some info you might want to use for further advice.
Milan Tour Information Office:
Located Via Marconi (corner with Piazza Duomo)
Fax # 39-02-809662
Email: [email protected]
Are you going to be staying at a hotel in Milan? If so, can you contact the hotel to see if they have information for you.
If not, I would fax the above number (Italian are sooooo slow in returning emails). Do keep in mind to fax (or phone) Italy you need to us 011 plus the
number above (well that is if you are in the US).
Or maybe just wait until you are in Milan and go to this office?
I will be interested if you are able to arrange this as an individual or if only tourist that are in tour groups get to tour the opera house.
Good luck with your venture.

My, my. What's happening to Italy? First they talk of banning smoking in restaurants and now they finish a construction project ahead of time. Next they'll be telling us that trains and busses will all run on time and that the prices have come down. What's happened to the true "Old Italy"?

LOL Patrick - you are too funny!
Yes it is true, in Italy starting January 10 the government has not only declared that there will be no smoking in any restaurant, cafe, bar etc. unless the business arranges for a separate room with proper clean air exhaust systems. In that so many business are in antique buildings and so many are small family run businesses this will be almost impossible to do.
The best part of the new law is that the owner of the establishment, after telling a smoker he cannot smoke because of the new law MUST call the police on the smoker if the customer continues to smoke. If the owner of the estalishment does not do this than he can be fined something like a $l000.00 euro.
My Rome born and bred SIL (who know lives in Vacaville CA) cannot stop laughing about this. Know who smokes the most? The poliza!
And can you imagine this law being obeyed not only in Rome but in Naples???
Oh for sure the Neapolitans will obey this law. Maybe it will be more or less (mezza mezza as the Italians say) in the north and down to Florence, but in Rome, and further south? I would love to be a fly on the wall for sure.
Don't hold your breath, as you know, on any of this. And the train and busses being on time? Oh sure, like when the Italians no longer have their eight hour strikes when the mood hits them.
Oh, BTW, the owners of the businesses are telling the government - well I will leave it to your imagination.
Ah, bella Italia!

While LaScala has reopened, it has temporarily "closed" for fine tuning the new stage equipment as far as operas are concerned. Until Spring. That may be why you are having trouble with tickets, although you should check selectitaly and charta. There are supposed to be ballets and concerts in the interim. And, operas at Arcimboldi in the suburbs.
