Milan w/family, looking for afforable rooms
My family will be in Milan 2 nights on our way to Bellagio. I am in need of very afforable rooms/hotel for the short time we are there. We are not opposed to sharing bathrooms or quad rooms. We have done both. Cleaniness and location are more important to us. Not trying to sound picky, I would prefer to be in Milan, (not outskirts) for we travel by public transporation always.

My husband and 2 boys. I would really like a quad room if possible and spend about $150 a noght (if possible)
I have done this in Rome many times, it seems I am having a harder time finding this in Milan. I don't know where to start looking.

Have you done a search on Fodor's for "budget hotels Milan" --? There have been some threads about this.
Milan is a notoriously expensive city when it comes to hotels. You can do some digging on Tripadvisor, Venere and Holiday City (all of which have user reviews) and consider asking over on the Slow Travel website, which has some residents of Milano who post there.

Check the Rick Steves guide books. Budget hotels in large cities are his forte. We have stayed a couple of times in one of his recommendations in Milan, the London Hotel. It has been a few years, so I don't know whether their current rates fit your budget, but the location and access to the metro are very good. Rooms very clean; bathrooms very small. On one occasion, it was a bit noisy but not sleep-disturbing.
