Milan or Venice

I am finalizing my itinerary and can't decide whether I should go to Milan for 1 night or spend an additional night in Venice. Here is our schedule so far.

Rome 2 nights
Florence 3 nights
Venice 2 nights
Milan 1 night

What is there to do in Milan besides Duomo and The Last Supper?

Unless you are flying out of Milan, I would not recommend spending a day and nite there at the expense of Venice. Other than the Duomo and Last Supper, there is the La Scala Opera House (currently closed for renovations, however) and the Galleria shopping arcade. We did the Duomo, La Scala Museum and Galleria in one afternoon after landing in Milan and then went on our way.

There is so much to do in Venice that you'll want the extra day there, IMO.

Mary Kay

Agree with others that Venice wins out over Milan, unless you must be there to catch a plane. Milan is a big city that reminded me more of New York or Chicago than Italy.

That said, its Duomo is spectacular, and the Galleria just off the piazza is the most gorgeous "mall" you'll ever see. (Except maybe for the one in Naples, which is at least as opulent.) There is also a museum in a fortess-like castello which is worth seeing if you go.
