Well, going along with milgeulgcuarda post, I was out and about doing errands this afternoon. Four times men (and all of them at least 20 to 30 years younger than I) held doors open for me.
And each time I said "thank you" and received a beautiful smile and a nice comment. It is the least a lady can do when a gentleman holds the door open for her.

About European men IMHO. First of all they have more "old fashion manners". That works for me! And they are a bit more romantic. A kiss on the hand, a kiss on the cheeks. Beautiful.

I think one is treated by the way presents oneself.

And romance does not equal a sexual experience. Two different things.

But if two people are in love, that of course is different.

And peeky, it is not just the young that yearn for romance. Romance can come along at any time of life.

Flirting, romance, or just out for a sexual encounter. All different things.

And as other posters (Janeygirl and Marilyn) have said, being noticed when one is older is enjoyable.

And by the way, my dear son-in-law is from Rome. We have had several conversations about European men and American women. So between all the time I have spent in Italy where I have many friends, all the Italian young men and men that have visited here and my son-in-law I do feel that I understand at least the Italian male thinking.

Under the Tuscan Sun cannot hold a candle to the movie Swimming Pool with Charlotte Rampling. The pool scene was absolutely off the charts. The movie is about love found and then buried in the back yard but love was certainly found on their holiday trip. If you haven't seen it I suugest you take a look. Pretty interesting for summers in France

frankdaddy, I really liked The Swimming Pool also, but I would say that it is about the process of creating fiction and the blurring of the line between fiction and reality, not about finding love. (Somewhere on line there is an interview with the director, who says more or less the same.)

I am only considered middle age if I plan on turning 100 but...while in Rome this past May I was "verbally romanced" by a very charming,Italian man. The only problem is that my husband was only a few feet away and finally told the man he though I was "beautiful" also. I guess the guy lost interest and moved on to the next woman! It was a boost to my "middle age" ego though and I love to tell the story!
