mercure Paris-Meudon

My husband and I have had a trip to Italy planned for some time. Last week he discovered he has to be in Paris for business the week before we were to go to Italy. I found out I can pretty easily change my flight to fly into Paris, then on to Italy on the originally scheduled date. Now I found out he is probably staying at this hotel, which is near where his meetings will be. Since I will be totally on my own for several days (and possibly for dinner as well), does anyone know if I can easily get into the city from this hotel. If not, I will probably just keep my original flight and meet him in Italy. Paris is my favorite city in the whole world, so I would be very disappointed not to go there. There is some big fashion show, therefore, the hotels in the city are booked. Since he is tagging along with someone else who will have a rental car, he is sort of at the mercy of staying at the same hotel. I'm pretty sure I could find a Paris hotel, however, I'm not in charge of accomodations

In Vincennes? Looks like it is a 5 minute ride on the RER A.

To get close to Paris? ... I'd do it.
And, what I read with a population of 46,000 people, surely there are some nice places to eat ...

Okay, you guys have convinced me that I shouldn't pass up a "free" trip to "near Paris"

Yes, a week in Paris, and then 10 days in Italy. I've never been gone from home this long, but now that we are empty-nesters (youngest is in college), it's much easier. I'm getting really excited, especially now that the whole trips seems to have been bumped up a week. What to pack, what to pack? Especially now that the carryon rules are different-hope my bags arrive! Thanks!

Okay, just to update - The Mercure-Meudon wasn't available (oh darnThe corporate travel agent told my husband there was NOTHING to be booked in Paris. So he put me in charge of finding a hotel (exactly what I wanted) at 150E or less (the maximum he can expense) I booked the Hotel Chomel for 158E. It looks to be basic, clean and in a GREAT area for me to spend some time by myself. So off to Paris in 2 weeks!!
