Memorable restaurants
Often my husband and I remember restaurants that others never noticed. We love good food at a reasonable price (not cheap but not breaking the bank).
Please share a memory of a great restaurant experience in:
Glasgow
Inverness
Edinburgh
York
Conwy
Bath
Cotswolds
London

Edinburgh - David Bann's. What a vegetarian restaurant should be.
Not a tofu emporium, but excellent, imaginative vegetarian (both vegan and non) dishes served in a modern upscale atmosphere. One doesn't have to be a vegetarian to enjoy a meal here.
Bourton-on-the Water - Kingsbridge Inn. Great pub grub. The fresh sea bream was outstanding.
York - Russell's Carvery. A fine carvery that is vegetarian friendly too!

Milliebest - Yes, I think so! But I'm not hugely particular about food. I love going to Borough market and trying out stuff there, I like Busaba's food - Thai, very affordable, Tayyab's and Lahore Kebab House for Pakistani/Indian food - again very affordable, crepes from roadside stalls in Portobello market...I'm very adaptable = ) I've realised that even the most humdrum of cafes/restaurants can serve a dish that you absolutely love!

Thanks,
I agree. that's why I posted "memorable."
In Tulum, Mexico we ate at a roadside local stop. I think we paid the equivalent of $1 or less for tacos and coconut juice from a coconut with a whole in it. As we ate the local school children were returning home from school. Truly memorable

We just returned from our 2 weeks in the UK with our "needy" daughter--she needs G-F foods and tries to eat a vegan diet. Couple that with "meat and potatoes" kind of dad and we had some difficulty finding dinners to suit us all! But in York we had a very nice vegan/G-F lunch in a wonderful patio on a pleasant day at El Piano. Vegetarian diets are easy to accomodate but G-F and/or vegan not so much, so this restaurant was a real find--and dad and I had pleasant meal, too (although I'd skip the cheesecake).

Oh, in Bath, go to Sally Lunn's House, close to Bath cathedral. I loved their food.
And Patisserie Valerie, Villandry/Villandry Kitchen (close to Regent's Park), Tom's Kitchen (Chelsea), The Breakfast Club (in Soho) in London = )

Martin's in Edinburgh, sadly it is no longer there
Wesley House in the Cotswold
La Famiglia in London been going there for over 35 years
But the best of the best
Sharrow Bay Country House hotel when the original owners had it. I hope it is still as good. This was the first of the country house hotels in the UK
