Meeting at Madrid airport

My friends & I are taking different Continental flights from Newark, NJ to Madrid on the same day. We would like to designate a meeting place at the terminal but we don't know if we will arrive at the new terminal 4 or another one. Can anyone help with which terminal & with a meeting place? Thanks.

Hi,

Continental arrives at Terminal 1. The new terminal 4 ( which BTW is beautiful!) is mainly for Iberia.

I have arrived ( and departed ) many times from terminal 1 on Continental. Since I have always left immediately upon arrival I have never paid attention to what's there. But I just went to the website for the Barajas Madrid airport and they show a Cafeteria called "Robot Bruselas" in the Arrivals hall ( where you come out after customs). Maybe that would work out, at least you or them can sit down and wait.

Do the flights arrive more or less at the same time? If not , maybe it'll be easier to meet at the hotel.

Most everything in the arrivals area of Terminal 1 is currently closed for renovation. Check the Madrid airport information at http://www.aena.es/

It looks like the early-arriving person will be waiting for two hours or so, given Continental's timing of these flights, and such a wait seems rather boring. Do you need to meet at the airport, or could you meet at your hotel?

A common meeting ground is across from the rental car counters, more specifically Hertz. The cafeteria is a so-so suggestion given the size and the tremendous smoking that goes on in that cafeteria. I would wandered around the cafeteria but, once the plane arrives would agree to meet at the Hertz rental car counter.
