Meeting at cdg

On October 25 I will arrive at cdg on American Airlines. I am under the impression that this flight will arrive at Terminal 2A. My friend will arrive 30 minutes later on USAir at Terminal 1. Does anyone know of a good meeting place? We will ride the metro into Paris. As well, is anyone familiar with Hotel des Arts near Montmartre? Thanks. Kathy

IMHO you should meet at the entrance to the RER station. The first one there, you, can buy the RER tickets and then wait for your friend.

There is a shuttle but from each terminal which will deposit you at the RER.

Sorry I don't know any hotels.

Check with the cdg but there is a spot called "the meeting place". I don't know if there is one for each terminal or not. Sorry, don't know that hotel.

Are you sure your AA flight comes into Terminal 2? It could, but I thought Terminal 2 was primarily for Air France.

At any rate, the suggestion to meet at the RER entrance is a good one, as trying to shuttle between the terminals is a pain and takes time.

Hi Lydia:

I wanted to add that Terminal 1 is under a huge construction project til 2008, so it is possible that your terminals might change. When I went to CDG last April we landed at 2A and 5 months before the same flight landed at terminal 1 (same flight same airline). So meeting at the RER is a good idea. Be aware that there ar 2 staions RER 1 and RER2. I would suggest that your meet at the RER! station that leave from a place called "Roissypole". You would take the free #2 shuttle (green) I believe from Terminal 1 anyway. Just make sure it is going to Roissypole. It is the RER station that has a Hotel IBIS CDG1 right at the station. This RER station is much easier to access than the RER station in terminal 2 in my opinion, and the Ibis makes a nice place to wait if one person is earlier than the other. There is also a cafe in the station itself. Another advantage is that there is generally a much shorter line for tickets into Paris.

Hope this helps.

Jeanne

At CDG there are 3 terminals:
1: international
2: which inclues 2A, 2B, 2C, 2D, 2E, 2F
3: charters.

I'm surprised you say that there are 2 RER stations: I never look just go to the RER =)
There is another train station: TGV though.

Yes, one of you can ride around on the shuttle bus until you reach the other terminal but this is a recipe for disaster in my opinion.

I suggest you also formulate a backup plan in case one or both of you don't get in at your scheduled time(s). For example: if you don't both arrive at your CDG meeting place by [pick a time], you travel to town separately and meet at the hotel.

Hotel des Arts is just up the street from the Blanche Métro station. You will probably have to climb and walk the least if you take the RER to Gare du Nord, then walk to the La Chapelle station. From there, it's a short ride on Ligne 2 to Blanche (your RER ticket includes the Métro leg). There are several other ways to get there, but they all involve one or more transfers to other lines, which can require long walks. There is a map of the neighborhood on the hotel web site:

And one from the transit authority RATP:
