Meet in Rome at airport?
My better half and I have been trying to decide whether go go back to France or Germany this May. We've been several times and love both countries. We also keep bringing up the fact that we never visited Italy. The decision may have just been made for us. Our daughter from Indiana said that as a present to us(and it would be wonderful) she will join us for one week of our 2 week stay wherever we decide to go. The only condition would be that we not repeat places we have been just to show her the sights. She has never been to Europe. Depending on her schedule, she may have to meet us there. We would be flying out of Boston. I am sure any flight she arranged would be from Indy to NY to Rome. Is it possible, since we have never been there, to find a spot to meet at the Airport that is so obvious that we could connect without problems? This is in the "just found out" stage and is subject to lots of conversation but would it be better for her to fly to Boston and hook up here for a later flight? Any suggestion about the logistics of this would be appreciated.

If you decide to meet in Rome why not just meet at the hotel?
It is easy to get to central Rome via the Leonardo Express train that runs from FCO to the Termini train station twice an hour. Cabs are right outside the Termini exit to take you/her to your hotel. Most folks speak enough English so that these first hours in Europe will not be stressful from a language point of view for your daughter.
Flights can be delayed or have a large difference in arrival times and I would much rather wait for somebody in central Rome for 3-4 hours than at an airport restaurant.
Whether it is better to hook up in Boston depends on your logistics and nobody can answer that for you.

On the off chance that your flights arrive when scheduled and there is not a long wait for either party, it's possible to meet in baggage claim before going through security. We met friends there when our flights were within 40 minutes of each other with no problem.
But if there is a flight delay, saps is right - just meet at your hotel so the early arrivals don't have to spend hours at the airport waiting.

I agree that either meeting at the baggage claim or the hotel would be the best option.
The baggage claim is very easy to find and would be a good place to meet, granted both of your flights arrive fairly close to each other. Otherwise I would plan on meeting in the hotel.

We recently met family in the (Hilton) hotel at the airport and were very glad that was the arrangement as the flight was late. The lounge area is very comfortable and the hotel staff are quite accustomed to this arrangement and will even serve you tea/drinks. Of course, you then tend to eat there with your friends and say nice things about them on threads like this so it pays off!
