Medieval fort now wine tasting room?
I have read somewhere in my research that there is a medieval fort that now serves as a wine tasting facility overlooking a Tuscan city that is gorgeous? I am thinking it was Lucca or Monteriggioni but I cannot find my information. If anyone knows, please help!

Hi,
Sounds like you are thinking of Montalcino.
There is an "enoteca" in the old fortress. We had a lovely lunch there last May, tasting various excellent Tuscan reds and sharing a couple of platters of cold meat, cheeses and bruschetta.

Hope you make it there catgirlinsc - we really enjoyed our leisurely lunch/wine tasting there. You can buy entrance tickets for the fortress itself from the wine shop. It's quite small (the fortress I mean) and there's not that much to visit, but you can climb up the towers and ramparts and there are some lovely views of the town and surrounding countryside.
