Medieval fort now wine tasting room?

I have read somewhere in my research that there is a medieval fort that now serves as a wine tasting facility overlooking a Tuscan city that is gorgeous? I am thinking it was Lucca or Monteriggioni but I cannot find my information. If anyone knows, please help!

Hi,
Sounds like you are thinking of Montalcino.
There is an "enoteca" in the old fortress. We had a lovely lunch there last May, tasting various excellent Tuscan reds and sharing a couple of platters of cold meat, cheeses and bruschetta.

Thank you! I researched this months ago before we knew our exact locations and I couldn't pinpoint it. Thanks so much again!

:) Hope you make it there catgirlinsc - we really enjoyed our leisurely lunch/wine tasting there.

You can buy entrance tickets for the fortress itself from the wine shop. It's quite small (the fortress I mean) and there's not that much to visit, but you can climb up the towers and ramparts and there are some lovely views of the town and surrounding countryside.

Thank you! We are leaving Friday (whoo hoo) and arrive in Rome early Saturday morning then head to Tuscany Sunday. I know we will have a great time and thank you so much for your help. Have wonderful travels yourself this summer!
