My daughter and I leave for Paris on May 24 for 6 days. We are very excited. It's our Christmas/birthday present from hubby/dad. (Isn't he great? Last year she and I went to London!). It's my second visit to Paris and her first. But, she is going to do most of the talking since she minored in French in college!

I appreciate all the discussion on this board regarding traveling to France. It has calmed my fears and confirmed my decision about going.

66 days and counting!

Mrs. Raghnall

Off for a week to London mid May for a family function - leaving my immediate family at home. Hope to spend a day or two in the country somewhere (any ideas) as I will be renting a car. Will be staying in friends' house - they will be in the US. Great rates from easyrent if you book well in advance. Must remember which side of the road to drive on!

We are going in May! My fiance and I will be spending our honeymoon in Italy from May 19-29th. We are spending 4 nights in Rome and then travelling to Positano to spend 5 nights.

In Rome, we are staying at a Bed and Breakfast called Alle Fornaci a San Pietro. It's in close proximity to the Vatican and things like that.

In Positano, we are staying at the Villa Rosa. The views look awesome!

We are both so excited to go!

I hadn't previously posted to this thread, thinking it was just asking about who would be in Italy in May. But I see that some other Central Europe travelers have weighed in.

We leave for Vienna May 12, then Prague May 15-18, Poland and/or Graz for three nights, and finish with a destination (as yet undetermined - - maybe Stirling?) in the British Isles, May 21 and 22.

Best wishes,

Rex
[email protected]
I leave from San Francisco for Rome in six days. I'm very excited although the war has put a damper on some of my excitement. I don't intend to cancel my plans and am looking forward to a fabulous two-month vacation in Italy. I'll be in Rome, Sorrento, Amalfi, Florence for 5 weeks taking a language course, and then to Venice for about 4 days.

I am obsessed with this Fodors site!! Safe travels to all and enjoy your time.

Gary, you'll chuckle at why my trip to Italy is so long... it was originally 2 weeks (and that was pushing it at my office)

...but a few weeks ago I (and my whole department) got laid off... after crunching the numbers, I figured out not only could I still (sorta)afford the trip to Italy, and it turned out the extra days didn't add too much $$$. Hence - it's now a great trip!!!

It's ironic... you can really afford these trips by working, but sadly that means there not enough time to go on them.

From Los Angeles we're heading first to a small Medieval town in Brittany called Dinan for a week, then to Paris for a week, starting in mid-May. We've taken apartments in both places, and we're very excited...

Good for you !
Venice is truly enchanting in May
so much history.. Casanova, Marco Polo and THE BELLINI at Harry's Cipriani (skip the meal but have the Bellini). Be sure to take home a gorgeous venetian MASK for souvenir. Spend a lot of time in San Marco piazza, catch a great picture of you with the doves all around you---kodak moment. Have a drink at the FIORI CAFE. Walk and walk the mysterious alleys of Venice. YOu won't forget it.
ROME, first stop , red grape fruit gelato at Crispino, Crispina (something like that) around the corner of the Trevi fountain. Feel the amazing history of the Coliseum and it's magnificent existence. Hang out with those cool looking Italians at the Spanish Steps late in the afternoon. CHECK OUT THOSE SHOES.....unbelievable, everyone has great shoes on...

ROME (Hotel de la ville Intercontinental overlooking the spanish steps, just perfect !)

VENICE (Danieli Hotel) Grand Canal view for sure and all the splendor of Venice.

In the meantime, my husband and I will be exploring Tuscany with friends in May. Flying to Rome from NYC, staying in Rome for 2 nights to eat well and visit the Coliseum again and the piazzas, this will help us get over our jet lag.....then we drive to Tuscany (Chianti as home base) to see Siena, Florence, San Gimignano, Pisa, Cortona, Assisi. Then back to Rome overnight and back home.

HAVE A SAFE and wonderful experience.
Italy is absolutely gorgeous.

For your next trip to Italy,
definitely Lake Como (Bellagio) and Capri...exquisitely beautiful. Fairy tale places.
