May 1st in Madrid. What to do ?
I have been searching for open museums this National Worker's holiday and thought I would share one that I have found, and can vouch for its interest.
Fundación Juan March
www.march.es
This is in the lovely Salamanca district and will be open from 10 a.m until 2pm according to whom I spoke to on the phone and their website.
There is an exhibit of the Brazilian artist TARSILA DO AMARAL
on now.
This museum/cultural center, as I have remarked in other posts, also has a series of free concerts and recitals.
Lunch nearby at El Séptimo restaurant will work out well, too. www.elseptimo.com
Enjoy!
On April 30th I hope to trek out ot the Museo del Traje ( the "dresswear" museum) as it also looks quite interesting.

Reopening of the Railway Museum on May 2. Since 1984, the museum has been located at Las Delicias Station, the oldest in Madrid. Inaugurated in 1880 by King Alfonso XII, it constitutes one of the most noteworthy examples of 'iron architecture' of the 19th century. It houses one of the largest collections of historic locomotives and travellers carriages in Europe. FREE ADMISSION THIS WEEKEND.

Enjoy, too, the railway park

… and don't miss, at El Séptimo, a dessert called 'tatín de mango'. Ummm!!

Yes, lin, I had heard that too, that they were seriously considering closing it since it just doesn't get much traffic at all. And while in that general vicinity, you might want to check out the Pre-Columbian art in the Caribbean exhibit at the Museo de América.
Enjoy your trip.
