Stayed there in June of 2002 for three days. It is a distance from down town. At least a few miles. However, there is a train stop close by. We found it very easy to get to and from downtown on the train. The hotel was very nice and the time we stayed very reasonably priced.

Stayed there about a month ago. Nice, quiet neighborhood.
Subway station is 5 minutes walking distance from the hotel. Downtown is about 4 subway stops away ( 15 minutes) and Leopoldville (sp?) which is a nice restaurant/shopping area is 2 stops (5-10 minutes) away.

Anitas, this is a great hotel to book with PriceLine! If you've never used PL before, go to www.biddingfortravel.com and spend time on the site learning how to bid (this takes a while). The thing that makes the Munich Marriott a no-brainer to bid on PL is that it's the only hotel at the 4* level in Munich, so if you bid at that level, that's the hotel you'll get. Recent successful PL bids have been from $51 to $80/night for a double.
To be a little more specific, go to www.biddingfortravel.com and scroll way down to Europe Hotels. Click on Germany and scroll down to Munich. You'll see the Marriott listed all by itself in the 4* category. I have no affiliation with PL or BFT.
