If they are only staying at one hotel it might be a real adventure to go ahead and take the train from CDG. It is very simple even for a first timer. And, I bet his new bride knows him by now.
The money he saves on the cab ride will pay for a nice meal.

Why the Roissy Bus? Take the Air France Coach to Place Charles de Gaulle [Arc de Triomphe]. The hotel is five blocks down the Champs Elysses [about a fifteen minute downhill]. There is a cab stand across the street from the bus stop.

I don't know why anyone would take the Roissy Bus, or bother with the RER and the Metro when the Air France Coach stop is relatively close to the hotel--about three and a half blocks further than the closest Metro station and downhill at that.

And don't forget the 4 bags.
Find the bus.Find the RER. Find a cab from the bus (and one that will want to take you 5 blocks?)
Honest, maybe taxis in NYC take you for a ride--I've lived there and had them try it. I have never had a cabbie in Paris do it. Have your address on a piece of paper and hand it to the driver. Even print out a map from maporama.com with the address.
A romantic picnic on the Pont des Artes to finish it out on the budget side!!
NO foolin'--a cab ride from CDG after an overnight flight is not a splurge--it is a blessing. And you get to see plenty of Paris neighborhoods.
Walk out the door and go to the cab queue. The "master" will get you a cab. DO NOT take a ride with anyone who approaches YOU--only Taxi Parisien--marked on the light on top of the cab. The others WILL take you for a ride.

"I'm grown up now and deserve to ride in a taxi like the adults do and my new wife will know that I care about her more than saving money so I can get fatter on food and wine."

The poster has clearly and unambiguously stated his desire to find an acceptable tradeoff between cost and convenience. His exact words were: <b>"If I could get there for much cheaper, I would rather spend the money on something else like food or wine!"</b>
I don't know why you people aren't getting this.
