Markets in tuscany

On another post there was mention of tuscany markets ... does anyone know of or have favorite local markets in Tuscany (other than the big ones in Florence and Siena)??

I love the smells and different foods at small local markets. You can pick up wonderful little food gifts too. I've been to many in France but would also be interested in ones in Tuscany for an upcoming trip.

Hi, In a book, "The Food Lover's Companion to Tuscany" by Carla Capalbo, there in an appendix listing the daily markets in each village in Tuscany. No elaboration but a complete listing. In the text on each area, she does make comments about some of the markets. You may want to check it out.

Question Peter...we are staying outside Florence and would normally take the bus or train into the city to avoid parking, traffic etc. Can I drive to Sesto Fiorintino without going through Florence? And if not, is there any way other than car I can get there?

We had a great time at the Saturday morning market in Greve in Chianti: bought groceries for the week, a tablecloth, and a straw and leather bucket bag I still treasure. That day was one of the best of our three weeks in Italy.

lvy depending on where outside of florence you are stayung it is very likely that you may drive directly to sesto avoiding downtown florence. you need a map of the area-try borders or a like bookstore. there is public transportation by bus in that area. im sure you could try that also. if you go try the roast pig sandwich from the vendor in the truck-it was heavenly. we stayed there overlooking the square in our cousins apt. im sure you would like it good trip and leat me know how you liked it
