Hi. These are two possibilities in the vicinity of the flughafen, neither in Zurich. I usually stay at the zum-goldenen-kopf in Bulach, and I like it a lot. The small town has a lovely center, and there are frequent buses to the airport. The fastest one is about 17 minutes at about 7 in the morning. (plug in Bulach and Zurich flughafen at sbb to check schedules).

Dielsdorf's Lowen is a Karen Brown recommendation, and you can walk or bus to the hilltop charmer, Regensberg, from there. Regensberg has an inn of its own, but I think it is considerably more expensive than the Lowen. From Dielsdorf, it is easy to get to the airport by train (one quick change.) From both Bulach and Dielsdorf you can zip into the city for shopping or strolling or excitement.

Zurich is only 15 or so minutes by fast train from the flughafen, but I prefer the inns in the smaller towns nearby. You'll receive other ideas, I'm sure. J.

If they stay in Weggis, and do daytrips from there, won't they be at the mercy of the ferry schedule? Why not stay in Luzern and take the train directly?
