March in Florence and Siena
My husband, 10-yr old son, and I are going to Florence and Siena in mid-March. This is our first trip to Italy. We are planning 4 nights in Florence and 2 in Siena.
*Pls recommend hotels in the $200-350 range
*Should we drive or take a train to Siena?
*Is it doable to stay in Siena on the last night and travel to Florence airport for an early morning flight?
Thank you.
DHB

I'm sure you have your htoels booked by now or have made your choices. It occurs to me though since you're bringing your 10 year old you may want to get some books for him before you go. Try some kids historyor the Time Lfe series - "What Life Was Like " He might find the trip a little less an adult thing if you can engage him some history and stories before you get there. Ancient cities have much more significance for kids when they get a historic perspective they can understand. I'll be there in March with my nephew.. Of course he's 30 now, but I've given him enough material to make the trip mean more than just walking and looking. Have a good trip. We'll be in Sienna on the 16th - 18th. Bon Viaggio
There are frequent express buses from Florence to Siena town centre, takes about 1 1/2 hours. The train station is about 10 minutes bus ride outside of Siena.

Since early morning traffic around Florence is not very good, probably it would be better to stay in Florence for the last night.
