March 2018. - Croatia or Amalfi coast

Hello all,

We have 6 days to visit another destination from London, UK.

We have been thinking of either Croatia or the Amalfi coast.

We will be coming with our 4.5 year son and two of our friends.

How would the weather compare in March for both places. For people who have been to both places, what would your preference be?

Thanks again for all the input !

You can check historic climate data on timeanddate.com. Here's the link for Amalfi; you can specify your destination or get other data.

With 6 days, you would, I think, need to be very selective for Croatia, as you would barely have time to scratch the surface.

Both are wonderful, but it is off season, so you'll need to decide whether the things that you would want to see / do are an option.

Have visited both places. Love both. Flying from USA it was difficult to get good connections from Heathrow to Dubrovnik. Easy comparison, if your destination is Dubrovnik and say Positano -- both equally beautiful. With children, 55-60% in favor of Positano. If you go to Dub, you could also easily visit Montenegro. Airport is convenient in Dub. Airport is not convenient in Positano. Both have great hotels. We like food in Positano better. Water will be too cold in both places. Wine perhaps better in Italy. However, Croatia has very good reds.

Bottom line -- Amalfi (Positano).

Hi, I have been researching the same since I have a similar dilemma, Based on my research, for 6 days I would probably pick the Amalfi coast. I feel Croatia definitely needs more time than that.

We are looking at around 8-9 days in June, no kids. I am equally confused, we love the water and breathtaking views but I think both offer those. Would love some input from anyone who has been to both. If Croatia, then which/how many places? Thanks!

@ excited_confused: yes, Croatia deserves more than 6 days. I spent about 3 weeks in Croatia, plus another week in border areas (Sarajevo, Mostar, Kotor, Ljubljana, Bled, etc.) -- and I still felt that I was skimming the surface! By way of contrast, I spent only a few days on the Amalfi Coast and saw almost everything I wanted to see there. (My time in that area also included a night on Capri -- perfect, for my interests, and a few nights in Naples -- NOT enough!) BUT, of course, it depends on what YOU want to see and experience.... If you are serious about a short stay in Croatia, then my recommendation would be to read some of the MANY threads about that topic and then post a separate thread. JMO.
