Marcello Maresca - do you know of him?

I found this driver guide from Sorrento, have any of you used his services? It looks as though he will spend the day with you and take you to all the sights and different cities.

As I replied in another thread, we used this company for transfers and were very happy.

Yes-I am about your age, and traveled to the Amalfi Coast solo three years ago for the first time. Marcello Maresca was the driver I used. I will be very happy to share my experiences with you directly, because I think the information might help you alot in your choice of using him as a driver if you are a solo female traveller in her fifties. You can email me directly at [email protected]

If you're interested in other recommendations, I can highly recommend Giovanni and Giancarlo Gargiulos, a father and son team who are based in Sorrento. We've really enjoyed our trips with them during vacations on the Amalfi Coast. Several other posters on this forum have used them as well.

You can e-mail them if you're interested at: tourofitaly.com

Weadles' advice is good - I met the Gargiulos briefly on my first trip to the Amalfi Coast when they showed up to pick me up when the driver I hired could not show up at the last minute, and I was stranded temporarily on the dock in Sorrento. They were just wonderful, and great fun, both father and son! If I remember correctly, their prices for day tours are quite reasonable also, and it's a family run business. They come from MassaLubrense, which is a really beautiful part of the Sorrentine Penninsula straddling Sorrento and the Amalfi Coast. If I ever use a private driver again, I would surely consider either of them!

Minerva,
We hired Marcello last month for a day long tour. I will be happy to give you specifics, but I suggest you consider him only if you enjoy constant conversation. Marcello himself said he should be referred only to those who want "to hear about his country". And hear we did! Feel free to email me at [email protected]
