the michelin maps are good for planning i find, but i find them too difficult to deal with in a car...i stop at the first gas station i pass and buy a road atlas...last spring i bought one right outside shannon airport for about 9 or 11 euro...it is great detail and very helpful all around....it has a spirial binding, making it very easy to use in the car

"The Complete Road Atlas of Ireland" by Ordnance Survey, Ireland is my bible while I'm there. Not sure if this is the same one rhkkmk posted about but it IS spiral bound. I got mine at Eason's (bookstore) for about 11Euro. (You can find the book at Amazon.co.uk - no photo though...
) You can't miss them, they are all bright blue.
I use mine to mark the roads and places we traveled to each day so when I get home I can retrace our steps and match up all the photos. I also keep a short journal to help jog the ol' memory. :-?
Enjoy,
Wendy

Michelin also sells a spiral bound version which includes the UK. The Ordinance Survey map is very good but it's nice also to have something that can give you an overview of where you are going. You've got to turn a lot of pages in it.
