Malpensa to Florence?

I'm flying into MXP, and would like to go directly to Florence. Is there a train nearby that I can take? I don't need (or want) to stop in Milan.

From Malpensa there is a shuttle to the
train station cost about $8 usd.
It leaves every 1/2 hour. I have used
it many times.

Thanks Joy. How long does the shuttle take?

Sounds there's no way around taking a bus into Milan? Aren't there train stations closer to Malpensa?

Check out your train options on www.trenitalia.com. As far as I know, most direct route from MXP is to take the shuttle bus into Milan (bus takes 50 minutes, maybe a bit longer if traffic in city is heavy). Bus takes you to Milano Centrale, main train station, and from there you can connect to Florence. And preferable to travel on Eurostar train down to Florence.

The shuttle from Malpensa airport to the train station takes about 45 minutes.

There is a train station near Malpensa: Gallarate, BUT

a) there's a single daily train travelling directly to Florence; departure at 6:10am, arrival at 9:47am

b) all other train options call for a change in Milano Centrale; single train change departures/arrivals are:
8:54am/12:47pm; 1:21pm/5:57pm; 2:21pm/6:35pm; 3:54pm/7:47pm; 4:21pm/8:47pm; 5:54pm/9:47pm; 6:54pm/10:47pm

c) the distance from the airport to the Gallarate train station may be covered by a taxi in about 15 minutes (9 miles)

d) if the taxi queue is long ... you may end up hiring an unhappy driver

I'd go for this option only if I'd be free to take off from Malpensa not later than 5:30am!
