Malaga to Lisbon in 10 days
I'm planning a honeymoon in southern spain and portugal and have allowed about 11 days. Can someone who's been thru this please comment on how realistic this seems?
Day1 Arrive in Malaga, rent a car, drive to Ronda
Day2 Ronda
Day3 Drive to Cadiz
Day4 Cadiz
Day5 Drive to Sevilla
Day6 Sevilla
Day7 Drive to Lagos
Day8 Lagos
Day9 Drive to Lisbon
Day10 Lisbon
Day11 Reluctantly return home
I want to see several towns, but also want some time to relax. It is a honeymoon, after all. The longest drive is only about 2.5 from lagos to Lisbon, so that we can handle. I've already cut out a trip to Morrocco, which I think would be too hurried. Any advice would be appreciated. I'm basically trying to find a happy medium between sight-seeing, relaxing.
Also, I'm planning on renting a car in malaga, dropping off at Lisbon for about $600 from AutoEurope rentals. Are they good?
Thanks, all!

hi, bezurker,
WEll, at the risk of disappointing you, not very.
First of all, you are missing out one of tehmost romantice places in te hworld, namely the alhambra.
secondly, you are spending a lot of time moving not seeing. this is supposed to be a honeymoon, not a route march. you will hate that car by the end of this journey.
thirdly, i suspect you are paying a lot for a one-way rental.
I would revise your itinerary thus:
DAy 1 - Arrive Malaga, collect car [depending on the time of day; if arriving at night, stay overnight and start off the next day].
DAy 2 - drive to Granada - stay 2 nights. Visit the alhambra x 2 [day and night visits] plus the albercin.
Day 4 - drive to seville via Cordoba. visit the mesquita then drive onto seville. stay 3 nights.
DAy 7 - drive to Cadiz [or jerez] stay 2 nights.
Day 10 - drive to ronda -stay 1 night.
Day 11 - drive to Malaga.
save Lisbon and Lagos for another visit.
regards, ann

think it's pretty good.
Cadiz? not the greatest town but nice beaches. Nearby Jerez de la Frontera has famous sherry tours (sherry being a British corruption of the word Jerez when the Brits cornered the sherry market and shipped barrels and barrels to old English ladies for the afternoon snips - and also the Andalucian Riding School horse extravaganza - rehearsals most days if not shows. Not a great town but so close to Cadiz a short day trip.

You're the 2nd person I've heard say that Cadiz is not much more than a beach, I think I'll take that advice. I'm still trying to decide if I want to focus on spain, I'd love to spend a few days in Portugal as well.
