Making hotel reservations via Romeby.com (Worldby.com)

Has anyone made reservations using this company. They provided us with a voucher and said that we must present it at check-in. Is this a reliable web site to book through??

Thanks

Why not contact the hotel for which you made the reservation and ask the staff if they will accept it? I assume they will, but you can find out in advance if there is a problem.

We used the Romeby site to book a hotel in Rome this past October (Canali ai Coronari) and also used Italyby to book a room in Spoleto (Cavaliere Palace). It worked perfectly. I did, however, reconfirm with the hotels before we left on our trip.

I'm just curious. Did you also originally contact the hotel directly? Why did you use this site to book, was there a big savings in price over the rate the hotel was charging. I'm a big fan of dealing direct with a hotel, unless you've somehow managed to save a lot of money by doing otherwise.

I don't believe we saved a lot of money if any at all. However, it was very efficient using this site. I liked the information provided on all the hotels along with the pictures. That is how I chose. The response was very prompt unlike dealing with the hotels directly. They also responded to questions I had after booking.

I agree with verona. I'm a big fan of these sites. The "parent" is worldby.com and from that you can link to Paris.by, Italy.by, Tuscany.net etc. I've used them extensively and always with good results for all of the reasons verona cites. They actually have a policy of requiring their hotels to respond within 48 hours. If you have problems getting a response, they'll hook you up with a personal "helper" who will get on the hotel's case to get you info. They send the voucher by e-mail and you just have to take it with you. At several hotels I've never even been asked for it though. My favorite thing about the site is the extensive photos they have of the places--rooms (usually multiple), public areas, pools, and even bathrooms--from multiple angles.

We used Romeby.com this past spring with no problems.

I also liked that the site was easy to use - plug in your requirements and they pull up all the matches - and the tons of photos were helpful, too.

I've used veniceby.com and parisby.com. Using this service you are actually booking directly with the hotel. The ---by sites are like a conduit (server) directing your query to the hotel itself. What you have is not a prepaid voucher (like a travel agency)but a reservation confirmation. I paid the same rate as posted in the hotel so it is not a discount site. You can find specials on some hotels - I would liken these to the typical internet booking discount you sometimes see on direct websites for a hotel. The pictures on the ---by sites and the property discriptions are accurate. If you send an e-mail query (for example, asking if they can book concert tickets) you'll receive an e-mail reply signed by a hotel employee so, if you're still a little nervous you'll have a persons name when you call.
