Majorca in June
I have a conference coming up in Barcelona in mid June, and I am going to take some time afterwards to travel to Majorca. It looks like a marvelous island (we have never been) and we will be there for about ten days. We think we should spend a few of them in Palma and about a week somewhere else on the Island.
We would like the hotel to be close to a vibrant, beautiful town, and after some reseacrh, Soller and Valldemossa look really nice. Are there any other towns I should look at?
Thanks

You should consider Pollensa in the north of the island, about a couple of miles inland. It's a town with a very local feel but with nice restaurants and several good hotels. Try the Hotel Son Sant Jordi just a two minute walk from the main square, nice rooms and a pool in the garden. It's my go to place on the island and I've been going to it for a lot of years. We've stayed in a number of places on Mallorca but always come back to Pollensa.
The town is a couple of miles inland from Puerto de Pollensa, again nice restaurants and hotels but without the "feel" of the old town. Pleasant enough though and it has pleasant walk's along the sea known as the Pine Walk. The north of the island is easy to get to up the motorway, about 30 minutes from Palma.
