Chapter Two Below...

Thanks for the nice comments.

Today’s installment shows why few people want to travel with us…not a lot of down time (like none). We hit a couple of famous art museums (connected by a little boat ride across the Thames), a famous theatre, the oldest pub in London (supposedly), a cool bridge, a museum that could keep you occupied for a month and a delectable dinner at a former car showroom. Oh yeah, for lunch at the Borough Market we devoured the best cheese toastie you’ll ever want to eat. I’m tired just writing this.

Wow -- you guys sure did squeeze in a lot that day (did you keep up that pace for the whole trip???? )

That same barman waited on me back in March and last August -- I love that little bar Neat about the books -- A.A. Gill passed away late last year, an amazing restaurant reviewer. I do like sitting in the corners since you can pretty much see the whole room. I've never been seated up on the mezzanine -- wonder if those tables are reserved for 'special' folks?

. . . Carnation Lilly Lilly Rose is one of my very favorite paintings anywhere. Sometimes I'll pop into the Tate just to look at it (and to get a Turner fix). The light in the painting is absolutely ethereal.

My intentions were good... a healthy weekend...then I made your cheese toastie! Had to go for a long walk after ( tweaked your recipe a bit, added smoky ham, yum) ....but it was worth it.

Have enjoyed tales of your exploits for years - so happy to have logged onto Fodors for the first time in quite a while and find a new Tom, Tracy, Kim and Mary adventure story .
Which one of you attempted oral siphoning of fuel a decade back or so again? Kim? I killed a keyboard with that TR (coffee meet electronics) and it was well worth it! Glad to see you are fully recovered health-wise from GB and so looking forward to the rest of this report.

Darn you tom! I was on willing terms with DH to go somewhere besides England on our next European trip. Then I threw caution to the wind and opened your trip report. Now I am standing fast for going back to England. Your photos are spectacular.
