On the more quaint side, we visited the Musée de Magie on rue St Paul last month. It houses a few rooms of magic 'antiques' and implements of illusion. They give a small magic show maybe 1-2 times an hour - when we were there, it was a children's birthday party. Everything is in French, but you can understand most all of it, and the tricks the magician performs are all visual anyway. It is quite charming and won't take a lot of your time.
