Josh,

I suggest spending a couple nights in the beautiful town of Siguenza and staying in the incredible parador which is a converted 12th century castle. There are several memorable daytrips to be enjoyed in the environs of Siguenza.

Maria

I agree with Ruth. We flew into Barcelona (our favorite city in Spain)and took the night train (hotel train) to Madrid; otherwise, you waste a day in travel, and I hear it's not that scenic. Rent the car in Madrid; don't miss nearby Toledo and Segovia! We overnighted only in Madrid, as we had no car, but the buses worked great for day trips.
