Madrid Hotels - Alcorcon

On an upcoming trip to spain, I am hoping to use hotel points for our hotel in Madrid. There is a hotel availible in Alcorcon SW of Madrid that is close to a train station. Does anyone know if this is a train or a subway or both?

It also says it is 20 minutes from Madrid city center, is that a conservative time to get there or is it a 20 minute ride by taxi/train/subway?

thanks

The hotel is not actually in Madrid proper, but 20 Km southwest of the main part of the city, just off of the NV/ E90 highway, and .5 Km from the train station.

Sorry, maybe I wasn't really clear. I do know its outside of Madrid. I guess I'm just wondering if it is relatively convenient for 3-4 day Madrid visit.

When we were in Rome we stayed in a hotel well outside the city center but relatively close to the subway line so it was still fairly convenient.

Alorcón is a stop on the Metro Sur, a southern extension of the Madrid subway.
From that station it would be a 20 min. bare minimum ride to a center city station.
Can you not use your points for a hotel that is actually in downtown Madrid? You really wouldn't want to stay in Alorcón. I'm afraid you'll be spending your entire time going back and forth on the metro.

Spellcheck, Alcorcón.
With what hotel frequent guest program do you have points? That chain may have a better location closer to the center of town.

Yeah there are a couple in the city center but aren't availible for the time we are hoping to go.

We have other options we're considering, just saw this hotel was close to the train line and 8 miles outside the city and I thought we'd see if it was relatively convenient or not.

oh, and I don't have an accent on my keyboard (not that I would have spelled it right anyway).

Thanks both.

thanks to you both

ACoronado78,
Didn't mean to disparage your spelling.
Your spelling was correct! It was mine that was wrong, forgetting the first "c"!

With only 3 days for Madrid, I would look for something inexpensive in the city itself. There are plenty of budget options, if you will let us know your preferences, travel month and budget.

Madrid's city center is so managable on foot. Staying in the city -- and being to pop back into your hotel when you like -- will give you a feel for the place that you would never be able to achieve if you were that far out. In some cities it might make sense, but I would not recommend it for Madrid. Maribel and others can give you a ton of great suggestions if you want to provide more info about your interests and basic price range.

try having a look here:

they've got a wide range so im pretty sure you 'll be able to find something. alcorcon's not that great of a tourist place with very little to see there. also being tied to having to use trains or buses would take up a lot of your times. taxis , if you could find one who'll take you there, would be expensive
