Madrid & Barcelona Itinerary - What am I Missing?
My trip to Spain is coming up at the end of the month and I am starting to get very excited! The basics are planned, but I need to fill in the blanks, so suggestions are welcome!
Day One - arrive in Madrid in the morning - fly to Barcelona
Check in to Majestic Hotel, Passeig de Gracia 68
Leisurely day in Barcelona
Day Two - ½ day wine tour of Cavas area
Rest of the day in Barcelona
Day Three - Day trip to Montserrat
Do I need to book tickets in advance?
Day Four - More time in Barcelona
Day Five - morning in Barcelona, take mid-day train to Madrid
Check in to Hotel Wellington
Day Six - Madrid sights
Day Seven - Day trip to Toledo
Day Eight - More Madrid
Day Nine - Day trip to Segovia
Day Ten - Return to US

Have you been to Barcelona before? You only seem to by spending a day and a half there. It's a great city. We were there a week, and never ran out of things to do. I'd consider skipping one of your day trips and spending more time in Barcelona.
The Majestic is in between 2 of Gaudi's finest, Casa Batlló and Casa Milà (La Pedrera). Be sure to tour each of them, and see the Sagrada Familia as well.
You should print out the Barcelona and Madrid guides on www.maribelsguides.com. Lots of great information.

I agree that the OP doesn't have much time for Barcelona.
To answer your question about Montserrat; NO you do not need to buy your tickets in advance. Also, Montserrat should be visited on a clear day. See my post here regarding montserrat tickets: http://www.fodors.com/community/euro...omment-6076738
