We'll be back in Madrid in early February after a week or so in the north and several days in Sevilla and Malaga. This is a little earlier then our normal late winter trips, but we decided to be in Donostia-San Sebastián for the Tamborrada and opening of the cider season this year. Something to get the year started. The one thing I don't worry about is the weather.

Hi. Not commenting on weather but letting you know you can enjoy both Madrid and Sevilla in your time period. I lived in Madrid many years ago and took my husband to Spain 2 years ago. We had 8 days and did a 3/5 split. We went to Sevilla first on high speed train. It is such a magical and lovely city. Great food too! Our days started early and ended late but that was ok with us. Be sure to use Maribel's guides for food recs-La Catapa was a favorite! Buen viaje!

Robert, wish you a great tamborrada experience! This is one of my favourite youtube-clips, very poor film quality but oozes San Sebastian spirit and atmosphere: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nhncDjXMeQ4

I was pleasantly surprised to see new posts on my original question. We have already planned to fly into Madrid and take the train to Seville that same day. We'll spend 5 nights, 4 full days in Seville (plus the evening of arrival), then take the train back to Madrid and spend 4 nights there before flying back to NY. If we find we have too much time in Madrid then we have the options to visit Toledo or Segovia.

This is only our 2nd time to Europe as a family so I'm just looking to make it a fun experience for all of us. I've realized that even if the weather isn't ideal, it will still most likely be much warmer than it is here in NY in February!
