Lyon to Sarlat
We will be driving from Lyon on a Monday in mid June and stopping for lunch in Roanne at Tros Gros. My idea is to get to Sarlat on Tuesday to be there for the Wednesday market . We plan to spend about 1 week in Dordogne. Any ideas for a nice place to spend the night between Roanne and Sarlat?

If you are having lunch at Troisgros and do not plan to have a limited lunch, if offered, just to say that you ate at Troisgros, I would suggest that you stay in Roanne for the night. Lunch will take you two or three hours, and with the wine, you will not be traveling very far. Just count on a full day's drive from Roanne to Sarlat, with a light picnic lunch to offset the previous day's meal.

I liked the looks of La Bourboule from the train on my way to Le Mont-Dore. It has a stream rushing it through the middle of it. It's the beginning of the Dordogne River.
I had a great time walking around Le Mont-Dore for the day. It's a pretty town. Had an excellent lunch at a place on the main square. It was the first time I had cantal doux cheese. Doux meaning soft. It was like butter.
I rode France's oldest inclined rail up to a meadow. There was a chalet in the meadow where I sat on their terrace sipping a drink. I could see the peak of Puy Sancy in the distance. Every once in a while I would see a tiny figure at the top of Sancy.
