Lvov?

I would appreciate any info on visiting Lvov (Lviv)including best way to get there. It is where my mother lived as a girl. I was able to find her street on an on-line map and think it would be an interesting visit.

I visited Lviv in August 2005, flying from Kiev, but I understand there are fligths from Warsaw. I stayed at The Grand Hotel, which I highly recommend.

"I was able to find her street on an on-line map" - do you read cyrillics? If not, I recommend you to learn as the street names will be in cyrillics only, and you won't be able to use an English-language map.

Faina_Again, Yes, I took two years of Russian in college back in the dark ages so it was no problem. The map that I read was in the Cyrillic alphabet.

Have you seen the movie House of Flying Daggers? The final scenes (and some others) take place in the national park just outside Lviv. Absolutely beautiful.

Are you referring to the bamboo forest scenes? I knew those scenes were filmed in Ukraine, but I didn't know where -- I should have researched that before my trip to Lviv. Next time...
