Greetings! We are leaving Prague tomorrow for Munich, and plan to stop along the way for a few hours to half a day in Regensburg. I have a guidebook, but haven't had the chance to consult it yet. What are your "must see" recommendations? Where should we have lunch? Typical regional cuisine will be preferred.

It may be a bit touristy, but I'm a wurst fan and I very much enjoyed the place at the foot of the stone bridge (a must see). Sorry, I don't remember the name.

Be careful not to look out the Window of Orpheus at the school of music......nice Hotel and restaurant opposite the school of music.

Just outside of Regensburg is Valhalla and Befreiungshalle in Kelheim.. both make for an interesting stop along the way (and you must eat the wurst)

Weltenburg Abbey is another great stop if you have time. Famous beer, oldest monastery in Bavaria in a scenic setting

The Gothic cathedral in Regensburg is quite grand. Compare it to the nearby rococo Alte Kapelle. One is dark and mysterious, the other light and showy.

What it liked best about Regensburg is the look of the city - from all the plazas connected by narrow streets to the river front. Make sure to walk by the Porta Praetoria, gate to a Roman fort.

For eats: in addition to the wurst stand, you might consider the Kneitinger Brauerei.

Visit the Town Hall in Regensburg and, especially, the famous chocolate shop across from the hall.

Try to get to a performance by the boy choir of the Regensberg cathedral--second only to the Vienna Boy Choir.
