I am departing on a cruise from Barcelona to Italy in early July. I would like to drop my luggage off at the port in the early morning and then sightsee for the majority of the day before checking in for my cruise in the evening. Is there left luggage storage at the Barcelona port? I am leaving from the Transmediterranea port.

I'm not sjre how "early" you can do this...it would depend on the cruise line I suppose. I know that, in general, embarkation may not start until noon or later.

When I was there last year I didn't notice any luggage storage facilities.

I assume you are flying in that day as opposed to the day(s) prior.

I just checked the Barcelona port webpage (www.abp.es) and did not find anything about left luggage. You might want to check with the cruise line and see if you can go ahead and leave bags with their porters or if they possibly have a left luggage space specifically for their line. If not, there are a few places you can leave bags within Barcelona: Sants train station (lockers), Estació del nord (bus station has a left luggage window and a few lockers), and it might be possible to request left luggage service with a sympathetic hotel. It never hurts to ask, so why not contact a nice hotel like the Meridien or the Monte Carlo (both right up the Ramblas) and ask if you could pay a fee to use them for a left luggage service. They definitely have the room, and might even have a policy on this.
