Luggage in Windsor
My husband and I are flying into London in February. We are taking the Gatwick Express to Victoria Station and then we want to go directly to Windsor on our way to our final destination of Cheltenham. (I know, long day!)
Our question is this: Does anyone know where we can store our luggage in Windsor for the day while we are out and about? It looks like the train station does not offer that.
Any insight would be helpful. Thank you.

You will have to transfer to either Waterloo or Paddington to get a train to Windsor. So it will be an even longer day. How are you getting from Windsor to Cheltenham? Are you taking a train?
I personally don't know of any left luggage facilities in Windsor. You might be able to find a hotel that will hold your luggage for you - but that may be a long shot.
I honestly don't think you'll want go into London at all. You can take the National Express coach from LGW to LHR -- which is just 7 miles from Windsor.
There is left luggage at LHR - but that would mean a lot of to-ing and fro-ing LHR/Windsor and back so not that practical.

There's no left luggage facility in Windsor. The nearest ones are at Heathrow and at Paddington and Waterloo stations in London.
There are frequent buses from Gatwick to Heathrow, between Heathrow and Windsor, and from Heathrow to Cheltenham. Though this sounds fiddly, it's likely to be a great deal less so than train/tube to Paddington, two trains to Windsor, two trains back then a train to Cheltenham.
Personally, I'd go straight to Cheltenham.

I was researching this for us. You can get a train from Gatwick to Windsor changing at Clapham Junction. No need to go into central London and then cross town to another train station.
Maybe a hotel will store your luggage for a few hours for a pound or so.

Does not the Queen allow luggage to be stored at the castle ticket window - cloak - check rooms where visitors have to put rucksacks, etc.?
But i guess if it were possible janis would have said so but just on the long shot she may not have thought of that.

Well, yes - One might think that is an option. However, Windsor castle definitely does not allow luggage storage.
(and how could they really? They get thousands of visitors and even if only 5% showed up w/ luggage it would be a mountain of bags)

And I really REALLY wouldn't recommend changing trains (with luggage) at Clapham Junction. You would have a long-ish walk up and down fairly narrow staircases, possibly in the middle of crowds of commuters already bad-tempered enough from having to do the same anyway.

My husband says, "I like Flanneruk, go with what he says. Go straight to Cheltenham!" That is what we are going to do. I really didn't realize what was involved in trying to stop in Windsor first.
With that said, what is the best way to Cheltenham from Gatwick? Do we take the Gatwick Express to Victoria, go to the Paddington Station and then on to Cheltenham? Or is there an easier way to go about.

Easier if not quicker
take train from Gatwick direct to Reading and then change to the Paddington to the West line there - if you went via Paddington you still go out via reading - no changing in London, which to me is a real hassle with luggage or expensive with taxis.
www.nationalrail.co for schedules and fares and booking if want and you may get cheaper fares by booking online and picking up your ticket once at Gatwick's train station.
