Lufthansa...should I?
Lufthansa gets some bad press on this forum. I have never flown it but it has a great deal, two for one if flight is completed by March 31. An example is $538 for two from Atlanta to Frankfurt. We had planned to go to Europe the first of April but can go two weeks earlier if I could be convinced that the flight attendants won't abuse me!

Judi,
go ahead and go for it. Lufthansa has a good reputation for safety, on-time performance, and comfort. I don't disregard some of the bad feedback you've seen, but I think chances are good your flight would be totally uneventful. By the way, in Conde Naste's readers poll Lufthansa placed 15th out of international airlines, This put it a few spots below BA (ranked 11th), and it scored higher than ALL the US airlines.

Judi: I gave Lutfthansa some very bad press, and I don't take that back. Yet even as bad as the experience was, I would not be able to pass up that good a deal. Just promise that if it is bad, you will promptly complain to Lufthansa. Maybe they will get the message that the customers do count, and we aren't flying for free, after all!

Judi,
I fly Lufthansa frequently and hate it but when the price is right and their safety record is good then I take short flights within Europe with them but watch them on their cheap flights. I have found that their staff are not aware of the special deals and will always try and sell you a more expensive flight. Be persistent and check out their web site.

I flew from Europe on Wednesday on Lufthansa, and had a great flight. The plane carried a grand total of 67 passengers (gotta love off-season flights), the food was fine, I had tons of room (lots of empty seats), and we arrived right on time.

Incidentally, the flight attendants commented that their worst passengers are those who:
- want special everyting
- bring too many carryons
- think that departure time is the right time to board.
