Lucerne Hotels

Do any of you fodorites out there have lodging recommendations on Lake Lucerne for a couple of nights in May - three or four stars?

Good afternoon, dabi
Have always used the HOTEL WILDEN MANN,
Bahnhofstrasse, 30 which is a bour star hotel with 43 rooms. It is located about three blocks from the
Bahnhof justover the river from the old town. It has two excellant ristorantes which we also have used over the years. www.wilden-mann.ch.
Have not stayed at the HOTEL ALBANA WEGGIS, in Weggis a short boat trip out of Luzern. look at www.albana-weggis.ch..This hotel looks very interesting and hope to stay there someday...Richard of LaGrange Park, IL

In Weggis we loved Seahotel Gotthard. We had a nice little room with a balcony facing the lake (across the street though, but the hotel's lakeside terrace restaurant is all there is between the hotel and the lake.

Dabi - We recently stayed in the 4-star Seehotel Pilatus at Hergiswil, 10 mins from Lucerne. Lovely lakeside hotel - I can recommend it.

Check on http://www.the-hotel.ch/, each room has the ceiling painted with a scene from a well known movie. A hotel design by Jean Nouvel, one of the great contemporary French architect, who also designed the theater in Luzern. The hotel includes a restaurant.

Try the 4* Des Balances. It is right in the Old Town on the River Reuss with fabuous views of the river and mountains. A river view room would be awesome. They also have a great restaurant in the hotel. They are also recommended by Karen Brown.

Another vote for the Wilden Mann. We were upgraded to a large corner room with a large marble-everywhere bath. Huge breakfast buffet included. Internet access. Very helpful staff. Nice, quiet neighborhood.
