HI Fodorites:

Can you tell me the best things to see in a 1 day tour of Lucca and are there any wineries nearby?

I do not know if there are any wineries nearby. For one day in Lucca I suggest renting bikes to tour the town walls. As you tour the walls you'll find plenty to explore.

There is a nice cathedral, and an accompanying small museum, that I don't think is necessary. The Duomo yes, its museum, no.

The walls, the Duomo, Piazza Anfiteatro are probably 3 "must do"s.

Lucca is a beautiful little city. Walk or bike around the city wall that completely encircles the old city. Wander around the city. If you like taking pictures, it is a photographers dream. Amazing details everywhere you look. We were there only 2 nights, and I can't wait to return.
