Lucca from Verona by train

I'm new here, so please bear with me. I'm planning to be in Verona this August for three nights. Will have five nights in which I would like to go by train from Verona to Lucca, two nights there, and then from Lucca to Venice for three nights there.
Anything you can help with re moderate hotels and whether itinerary makes sense will help.
Thanks

Verona is about an hour by train from Venice, so it does not make much sense to go to Lucca between the two.

Fly into Venice, go to Verona first if you have to be there on business, then to Venice (the other way around if you do not need to be in Verona first), then to Lucca. Fly back from Florence or Pisa.

Train schedules are at www.trenitalia.com

A very nice and moderately priced hotel in Lucca is the Piccolo Puccini. The location, just of Piazza San Michele, cannot be beat.

Thanks, Alajan. Tried but they were unable to take me. Have booked the Rex. Anyone have any input? Thanks.
