Looking to learn Italian for travel?
We are always hearing from folks who are looking to learn "just enough" Italian for their trips -- you know, enough to get by on their trip and be polite.
I am brushing up on my Italian for a trip later this year and found a FREE podcast on iTunes that I have downloaded and have been using the last few days. I think it'd be perfect for someone who just wants to know enough to get by.
In iTunes, look under Podcasts for My Daily Phrase Italian. They are 20 weeks' worth of daily lessons, only 4-5 minutes a day and I think that's manageable for anyone. You can listen (and re-listen) as you walk or drive to work, on the treadmill, etc.
What I like is that it's baby steps and the teacher builds on the lessons slowly. I have no idea where he'll end up at the end of 100 lessons (I'm on lesson 21), but so far I've found it good enough to recommend here.
Oh yeah, did I mention FREE?

How interesting that I'm also on lesson 21 and looking to make recommendations.
I though I would top this thread for those traveling this year.
I've really enjoyed the podcasts and find them incredibly helpful.
And it's still FREE!

emcasth, re: Italian Podcasts
I usually end up using the "Power Search" to find language programs.
from ITunes
1. In "STORE" left hand side bar, "iTune Store"
2. at top right, look for "QUICK LINKS". Click "Power Search"
3. enter "My Daily Phrase Italian" in the Title search box, clock "Search"
To get listing of other Italian programs, you have to use "Power Search" specific to PODCASTS which gives language options.
from ITunes
1. In "STORE" left hand side bar, "iTune Store"
2. in iTune STORE, look for yet another 'iTunes STORE" box, lefthand side near top, Lists: Music, Movies, TV shows, ... Podcasts
3. click "Podcasts"
4. at top right, look for "QUICK LINKS". Click "Power Search"
5. select "Italian" in the Language search box, clock "Search"
