Looking for sumptous breakfast in Paris

We'll be in Paris for our anniversary/my birthday next week. Not planning any particularly special dining. Just intend to get to some of the many places long on my "must try" list, most of which turn out to be small bistros. Realized that our plan doesn't leave until 2 p.m. on our final day so, while we'll not have time to fit in a last lunch, we will have time for a final celebratory breakfast. We had breakfast at the Crillon with our friends for her birthday so I'd like to find something different but equivalent. Any suggestions? Thanks for your help.

I think you will like Le Meurice as well as Hotel Crillon.

Thanks gracejoan, I was sort of thinking Le Meurice might be a good possibility.

I love the Meurice for a drink in the late afternoon, and Grace is right the Bristol with the garden is also a delightful sight. But our favorite place for a special breakfast is Le Café de la Paix with the view of the Palais Garnier. Not as elegant but to me it is so so Paris!

Not sure how sumptuous it is, but the location can't be beat, the Cafe Marly at the Louvre. It opens at 8 am.

I think you are going to be limited to hotels. So choose the one that suits you!

We did the Cafe de la Paix on the same birthday trip for our friend that included the Crillon, but I recall it as lovely at about half the Crillon price, so I could certainly be convinced to return. Thanks all for some good suggestions.

In researching this, I also checked zagat for its breakfast places and have decided to try to do some places while we're there--besides the biggie for the last day. This could be my chance to see Brasserie Balzar and Coupole. I never seem to fit them in and now see I can do them in the early hours. My horizons have expanded.

The breakfast at La Coupole is excellent... and you get some interesting people to watch while you're enjoying the breakfast.
