Looking for hotel recomendations in Toledo, Spain

We would like a recommendation for a hotel in Toledo that would have some charm and be centrally located to the historic center of town. We are passing on the parador because it is outside of town. Quiet street and cost about $100 per night would be nice. Thanks, Maria

We are staying at the Hostal del Cardenal in early January. It has come highly recommended. The cost is about $70 per night including breakfast and tax.

We've stayed at the Hostal del Cardenal. It's a charming converted cardinal's residence. It's at the edge of the town, so it's a 10 minute or so walk to the center. Good restaurant.

We also stayed at the Hostal del Cardenal in May and had a very nice stay. We had a suite with a balcony. I really preferred staying at this hotel instead of higher in the city. It was quieter and convenient (walk or take a bus across the street). The restaurant was very good!

I stayed at the Segovia in Toledo a few years ago, it was right in the heart of the old town, among seriously twisty and interesting streets. I'm sorry I don't have more details, but it was a smaller pension, fairly inexpensive, somewhat funky, but clean indeed. Very interesting architecture. It was great to stay right in the old town, after all the day trippers from Madrid left for the day, we felt we had the city to ourselves. A wonderful city, have fun.

Try Pinor del Greco (or something close to that) also. Quiet, near everything, modern and reasonable.

Maria,

We stayed at the Hotel Santa Isabel ( tel 34-92-525-3120, fax 34-92-525-3136) last June and loved it. The hotel is a short walk from the cathedral on a very narrow, scenic street. We even had a small balcony with a close-up view of the gargoyles on the church across the street. It was very cheap -- about 7500 pesetas for three of us.

Toledo is fantastic -- was a highlight of our trip. Have a wonderful time!!
